Psychosomatic Tension Release (Day 2)

  • Medicine NEST 532 Herald Street Victoria, BC, V8W 1S6 Canada (map)

Psychosomatic tension refers to patterns of tension that are rooted in psychological responses to the environment. Most often they begin developing in the first months or years of our lives when as children we have very little influence on our surroundings.

The exercises we will be doing in this event will focus on gently opening and unwinding the physical tension, while staying present to the experiences that arise from them. There will be some group and partner exercises however partners will be chosen upon arrival so you don't need to bring one. Eye contact, light movements, postures, and breath will help us to go into the tension with awareness.

This series is divided into two events. The first is going to focus on the the tension developed primarily in the womb, and first 18 months of life. We will be doing more in relation to the eyes, mouth, and the balance dynamic between the right and left hemisphere of the body.

The second event will move deeper into the body, activating the core, diaphragm, pelvis and legs, which connects more with the development in the first 7 years of life. Each section of the body is connected with and stores certain emotional events and psychological stages, as well as developmental needs. By creating two events we can meet the needs of each part more effectively.
